VIGS Coronavirus Update 5/9/2020

5/9/2020 - PLEASE SEE THE TEMPORARY "SUMMER OF 2020"
CLASS SCHEDULE PUBLISHED ON OUR "FORMS" PAGE!

DUE TO THE GOVERNOR'S COVID-19 BUSINESS RE-OPENING GUIDELINES,
WE MUST REMAIN CLOSED DURING "PHASE ONE". WE WILL RE-OPEN WHEN
HE ALLOWS, AS HE RECONSIDERS EACH WEEK. WHEN ALLOWED,
WE WILL BE OPERATING ON THE
NEW TEMPORARY CLASS SCHEDULE
PUBLISHED ON OUR "FORMS" PAGE UNTIL
WE CAN RETURN TO OUR NORMAL SCHEDULE.

The Governor of Virginia has announced the enactment of "Phase One" of re-opening certain businesses beginning May 15th. Virginia International Gymnastics Schools is not being allowed to open. We will begin our opening once the governor says we may.

When we re-open, recreational classes will be scheduled differently, but we don't know exactly how yet until we receive more clarity on how many students or people we can have in the building. We have been working hard in the past months to design different scenarios depending on what we are allowed to do in Phase "Whatever" of the governors plan. Since children are out of school, it gives us more flexibility for what we hope is temporary class and competitive team scheduling. Therefore, the class and team schedules may be quite different than what is currently published in our literature or on our website.

We anticipate registration will be limited in numbers for each class. We are hoping to open more classes each day by taking advantage of the morning and early afternoon hours. This may allow us to serve as close to the same number of previously enrolled students, but with fewer in each class - for example if we are limited to ten students in the gym at a time.

Due to the difficulty in assuring physical distancing with very young children, we will not be conducting our Tot or Parent & Tot classes in this initial "Phase One" opening, which we hope will only last a few weeks. Once it is safe to do so, we will resume our Tot and Parent & Tot classes.

Recreational class students that were enrolled in Term 6 when we were forced to close will make up missed classes from that term when we re-open. There will be certain dedicated days and times set aside for the Term 6 make-ups. There will be no refunds or credits.

The staff at VIGS has been very busy getting the gym ready for re-opening. We have been deep cleaning, putting a fresh coat of paint on, disinfecting all surfaces and matting and disassembling and disinfecting our pit areas. We have been researching additional ways to keep you as safe as possible when we come back. Staff will wear masks and even gloves if necessary. We may ask to take the temperature of everyone entering the building. We may remove certain water fountains and replace them with hand washing stations. Students will have to bring their own bottled water. We hope to install touchless faucets in the restrooms soon. Customers will enter one doorway and depart another. We are working on installing a camera system that will allow parents to securely watch classes from the comfort of their car in the parking lot because of occupancy limits. The registration desk will have a plexiglass barrier to give you and our office staff some level of protection and comfort as they help you get your children enrolled again. All of this can change and even more could be done depending on day to day changes in the Covid-19 environment. In addition, our staff has been busy increasing and refreshing their training. They have attended virtual training webinars, began updating USA Gymnastics and Safe Sport certifications, enrolled in online USA Gymnastics training classes and are completing assigned video training by management.

The current Covid-19 pandemic is unprecedented. Along with the rest of the world, here at VIGS we're trying to figure out the safest way to re-open. We ask that you bear with us and work with us as we endeavor to provide your children with safe and fun gymnastics classes in a rapidly changing and confusing time.
We know our customers have had to alter their normal world as well. The one certain thing we can all look forward to is that this will pass with time and we'll be back to a "new normal".

Please look to this website and our answering machine messages to keep you informed of updates and especially about when you can begin to register for the yet to be published modified Term 8 if we can open for it.

Please continue to practice good hygiene, distancing and be safe. Just as important, look out for each other, family, friends and those not so fortunate that may need our help and compassion right now. We're in this together.

Thank you! Management and Staff, Virginia International Gymnastics Schools, Inc.

We'll See You Soon! Miss Ya!

Here's a huge THANK YOU to all the Nurses and Doctors working to save and protect us and eliminate this Covid-19. Please know this includes the dozens and dozens of current and former VIGS parents and athletes who are in those professions now. We are infinitely proud and thankful you do what you do. Please be safe!

Coronavirus Notice

Along with the rest of the country, Virginia International Gymnastics Schools has been paying close attention to the ongoing health concerns related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and has spent the last several weeks learning about Coronavirus and how to minimize its impact on our staff, students and families here at VIGS.

Our overriding concern has been and will continue to be keeping you, your child and our employees safe. At this point, we are following all recommendations from State and Federal authorities to help mitigate this virus.

Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (for 20 seconds) during practice or classes, after using the restroom or after any sneeze/cough.
If soap and water are unavailable, use hand sanitizer.

  • Cover any cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve/elbow, or a tissue (then dispose) and not your hands.
  • Practice physical distancing of at least six feet and stay at home if possible.
  • Routinely clean any surfaces/objects that are frequently touched (e.g., your phone).
  • When we are able to resume, do not let your child attend practice or class if they are feeling ill, and please communicate with VIGS if you or your child is diagnosed with Coronavirus so we may take further precautions for our members.

Additional recommendations and resources from Chesterfield County Schools information:

Once we reopen, if your child has symptoms of illness that would prevent participation at school, then please keep your child at home and call the school (VIGS) to report that your child is sick. Returning to school (VIGS) too soon may delay recovery from illness and may potentially expose others.

  • Fever: Children should not be in school (VIGS) if they have a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and should stay home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without medication. During influenza season, children with a fever and other flu-like symptoms may be asked to stay home longer.
  • Vomiting and diarrhea: Children should not attend school (VIGS) if they are vomiting or have diarrhea. Children are asked to stay home until 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea.
