In light of the Governor’s closure of Virginia school systems for the rest of the school year and sports facilities for thirty (30) days due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we will close for all competition team and recreational class programs through Sunday, April 26th. Recreational class students will make up missed classes when we re-open. We appreciate your understanding during this unprecedented time and please look to this website and our answering machine messages to keep you informed of any further schedule changes. Thank you for understanding in this unprecedented pandemic. Please continue to practice good hygiene, distancing and be safe. Just as important look out for each other, family, friends and those not so fortunate that may need our help and compassion right now. We're in this together.

Coronavirus Notice Below

Here's a huge THANK YOU to all the Nurses and Doctors working to save and protect us and eliminate this Covid-19. Please know this includes the dozens and dozens of current and former VIGS parents and athletes who are in those professions now. We are infinitely proud and thankful you do what you do. Please be safe!

Coronavirus Notice

Hello everyone,

Along with the rest of the country, Virginia International Gymnastics Schools has been paying close attention to the developing health concerns related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and has spent the last several days and weeks learning about Coronavirus and how to minimize its impact on our staff, students and families here at VIGS.

Our overriding concern has been and will continue to be keeping you, your child and our employees safe. At this point, according to the CDC, the risk for Coronavirus-19 in the United States is relatively low. Even with that in mind, the threat can change at any time and is evolving. We have taken steps to respond using the current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control. We have reinforced the cleaning efforts begun two weeks ago at the gym and are reminding everyone to:

Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (for 20 seconds) during practice or classes, after using the restroom or after any sneeze/cough.
If soap and water are unavailable, use hand sanitizer.

  • Cover any cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve/elbow, or a tissue (then dispose) and not your hands.
  • Practice physical distancing of at least six feet and stay at home if possible.
  • Routinely clean any surfaces/objects that are frequently touched (e.g., your phone).
  • When we are able to resume, do not let your child attend practice or class if they are feeling ill, and please communicate with VIGS if you or your child is diagnosed with Coronavirus so we may take further precautions for our members.

Additional recommendations and resources from Chesterfield County Schools information:

Once we reopen, if your child has symptoms of illness that would prevent participation at school, then please keep your child at home and call the school (VIGS) to report that your child is sick. Returning to school (VIGS) too soon may delay recovery from illness and may potentially expose others.

  • Fever: Children should not be in school (VIGS) if they have a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and should stay home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without medication. During influenza season, children with a fever and other flu-like symptoms may be asked to stay home longer.
  • Vomiting and diarrhea: Children should not attend school (VIGS) if they are vomiting or have diarrhea. Children are asked to stay home until 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea.

The CDC has a comprehensive website updated throughout the day with the latest news: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. This site includes a tab for visitors to monitor travel updates.

The Virginia Department of Health has a comprehensive website that provides guidance and an updated look at case numbers:http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus/.

Our VIGS employees are following CDC recommendations, including:

Requiring all employees to practice respiratory etiquette, hand hygiene, physical distancing and other precautionary measures that mitigate transmission.

Advising employees to stay home if they are sick or appear to have acute respiratory illness (i.e., cough, shortness of breath).

We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and keep you posted of any significant changes. Be assured, we will continue taking precautions — regular deep cleaning and disinfecting — to help mitigate any virus risk in our building.

Our customer health and safety are utmost at Virginia International Gymnastics Schools, Inc., and we strive to continue to be a safe place to enjoy gymnastics.

Thank you for taking this seriously and joining us in mitigating the threat of Coronavirus so we can all continue to enjoy gymnastics at VIGS very soon!

Please let us know if you have any questions.
